Enquire? Inspire! with Magda

Magda is our super smart QA Tester. Her bright mind and an eye for details makes her a real Bug-tamer. She may be a bit quiet at the office but believe us, she knows how to voice out her concerns when something needs to be improved. When she doesn't have her head stuck in the computer screen, she loves to search for treasures and play hide & seek with other geocaching enthusiasts. On the top of that she does her best to master Japanese and dreams about the trip to the Land of the Rising Sun. And if there is still some time left, Magda loves to read comic books and UX related materials.

An Early Bird or a Night Owl?

Definitely a night owl. I don’t like coffee nor energy drinks and my brain starts working at high speed around noon. That’s why it’s so sad that the world seems to be designed for the early risers. They say that the only clock that really matters is the alarm clock. But I try to live according to my biological clock as much as possible. I try to take care of easier and more automatic work in the mornings when I’m less productive and move all the important and most challenging tasks for later in the day.

What was the last thing that have surprised you?

I was about to say that nothing can surprise me anymore. But that’s not true. Recently I’ve been unpleasantly surprised by the amount of people that can still be fooled by those silly posts on Facebook promising you gifts for liking stuff. Do you honestly believe that someone will give you a perfectly fine and working iPhone for free? Come on! ;)

Most used app?

I’m lucky to fill this survey shortly after the release of Spotify in our country, so my answer is pretty obvious ;)

The most satisfying moment at work?

I get a great satisfaction from my work when I can solve a problem or track down a particularly difficult bug. I love those moments when I know I’ve helped the team. It feels great to be part of the group responsible for creating successful projects.

Which website do you visit everyday?

In addition to the typical news pages, facebook and a couple of polish blogs that I read regularly you can often find me on geocaching.com or opencaching.pl - websites that help to keep an eye on new treasures in the neighborhood for every geocaching enthusiast.

Bonus: teefury.com and qwertee.com - cool geeky t-shirts, available only for 24 hours at a time.

What have you found truly inspiring and motivating lately?

The biggest inspiration for me are and always have been people with passion.

Gadget you can’t live without?

My phone. I know this is probably the most boring and repetitive answer to this question but it’s true. I use my phone for so many things every day, that without it I feel like without a hand!

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

I can’t think of any at the moment. I’m a rather quiet person who rarely speaks without being asked. I’m sure I have my sayings but I’m simply not aware of them. I think this is rather a question for my friends than me.

What is your most treasured possession?

I love my cat, but she’s not really a possession ;) One other thing that comes to my mind is a small wooden box where i keep little things that remind me of good times in my life. That little box resembles a photo album but contains much more than pictures. It’s full of memories, and I certainly wouldn’t want to lose it.

A bike or a beer?

With a few exceptions I don’t really drink beer. So a bike it is.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t panic. Whatever happens, do not panic. Ability to remain calm even in the most extreme and stressful situations helps to get out of trouble and solve problems much quicker.

How would you explain to your friends what you do for a living?

I could say that I assure quality of applications by providing the necessary tests. But that sounds kinda boring. Despite popular opinion on the subject, testing can be fun, challenging and satisfying work. All it takes is the right approach. So to make myself seem much cooler I would probably say that I’m a bug hunter. ‘Gotta catch them all!’ ;D
